Original 1/6 Scale Polymer Clay Accent Pieces
I am a huge lover of Anne McCaffrey's novels of Pern. I have the compete set and have read them many times. There is something truly magical about dragons.
The idea of human and hatchling bonding telepathically at the moment of the baby dragon's birth was the inspiration for this work of Doll Art. The hatchling sculpture is of a golden dragonet struggling to free herself from the eggshell while her human soul-mate encourages her.
The dragonet is accented with metallic gold paint and applied micro-beads for added sparkle.
An OSS ode to King Kong and his lovely friend, this set recalls the Jessica Lang era of the giant ape movies.
The doll began life as a Mattel Fairytopia Barbie with jointed legs for some wonderful posing options. The realistic gorilla hand was accented with natural black mohair "fur".
This particular OSS Gallery spotlights One Of A Kind Doll and Sculpture sets. The creations shown here do not represent all of the sets produced by OSS. Some sets can be found on other Gallery pages. Please take the time to explore all of the OSS Gallery pages. It is the best way to truly see what we do and how the work has evolved over the years. Thank you.
I enjoy writing stories around my creations. Isabel, awaiting the return of her sea-faring husband, watches at the window. Her shawl is wrapped around her shoulders, and a light supper has been prepared. This was a fun project!
Occasionally, OSS ventures into the 12" action figure realm. Khan began life as a Dragon military figure. I just love the articulation of the action guys! Tongue in cheek, I added sculpted Sushi pieces to this set. Each grain of rice on the California roll was painstakingly sculpted by hand and then applied to the base sculpture! OSS is very detail oriented!
"Pele"
Goddess of Fire & Volcano
Originally created for an online Centaur contest, Pele became something much more. Having never sculpted a horse before, the project began with hours of research. Once begun, however, the sculpture itself simply flowed from my fingertips! The heartbeat of Hawaii lives in this One Of A Kind creation!
This beauty was created as First Prize in an online contest. She's a Victorian Era bathing beauty frolicking in the shallows at the beach while still retaining her modesty.

I don't really tell people that I "sculpt". It sounds a bit pretentious despite its accuracy. Creating with clay sounds more like play, and that's closer to the mark where this artist is concerned. I "discovered" clay for myself about three years ago, but I have a long time friend who has been using it for years in claymation. Watching his work in television commercials etc. always fascinated me, but I never made the leap to believing I could do anything with it myself. For my friend's uses, the clay is not cured, so it remains soft and pliable. In my work, the polymer clay sculptures are cured/baked in the oven/toaster oven until the clay hardens permanently. Once cooled, the clay creations can be detailed and then sealed for longevity. Many of my 1/6 Doll Art creations are combined with my clay designs to produce indredible OOAK works of art!
Victorian Gothic Fashion Royalty Natalia was painted and given tears streaming down her face. Mourning her beloved, she cannot be consoled.
